Ability Suggestions and Discussing the Meta
Hi all,
Since no one has made a sub for Apex improvement suggestions and I haven't the time nor expertise to be a mod, here's my laundry list of ideas that Respawn can benefit from.
Got the idea to make this after speaking with a few friends on the subject and seeing that the latest Path buff came from Reddit. It would be great if the community could pool our ideas together and really have a hand in helping this game flourish. Note: This review skips over Octane, Mirage, and Wattson, as I have no experience with them yet. Feedback is appreciated.
Bangalore: should be able to Double-Time for a few seconds within the storm and possibly within her own smoke. Bangalore's emphasis on creating and benefitting from hostile environments would be greatly compounded by giving her a speed boost under these conditions. It would give her loads more viabilty in recovering banners, vitality during fights in the storm, and overall make her a larger presence within the arena.
Bloodhound: No comment here, good work with this one(this is after Bloodhound's ult-scan cooldown was increased from 6s to 8s)
Caustic: Pretty good spot here, thanks for treating my Gas buddy right.
Crypto: Don't know if this is possible, but Crypto's drone should activate in the exact direction that he's looking while he boots it up. I find myself looking at the sky often when activating the drone, only to find that my drone's POV is completely level and parallel with the ground. It's a small adjustment but it brings a whole lot more fluidity to playing Crypto and improves his versatility under duress.
Gibraltar: I don't know if it's just me but Gibby seems a little bit too tanky. Maybe it's the gun shield. I'm not sure. No official comment here.
Lifeline: Currently think she's good how she is. Others might disagree. Her drone should probably work within a friendly Caustic's gas though.
Loba: It's been said plenty of times but Loba should be able to pick up players' banners with her ult. This, along with the player starting at a 50% ult, will increase her viability as a support by so much.
Pathfinder: Once his scaling grapple cooldown is worked out, all that's left to figure out is his passive. I don't know how permanent of a solution this would be, but I think along with lowering his zipline cooldown, pathfinder could benefit from a scan of the map everytime he scans a survey beacon. The scan would show enemy positions on the map for a brief time, much like how the scan in the satellite dish works in King's Canyon. This allows teams to plan around fights much better, without actually having an unfair knowledge of enemy positions.
Rampart: Could probably use a bit of tweaking to her walls but I'm not sure how it would work. No comment.
Revenant: Plays well and is great in certain playstyles. The only thing I can really ask for here is to tweak his slide transition so that he moves back into a crouch walk more quickly. The way it works now, Revenant gains a small boost in speed like the other legends by sliding. The problem here is that Revenant doesn't stop sliding when he reaches the speed of his crouch walk. He keeps sliding until he reaches a near stop, causing him to slow a fair bit and dampening his momentum. If he could transition from slide to crouch when he reaches that speed, that would be great for movement.
Wraith: Similar to the recent Pathfinder treatment, Wraith needs to have more agency over her tactical. Allowing the player to determine how long she is in the void (and how long her subsequent cooldown is) by how long the tactical button is held down would increase Wraith's variety by an extreme amount. Just tapping the button would allow wraith to pop into the void for a second and have a small cooldown (say, 10 seconds). Holding the button down longer would allow her to charge up more energy and then enter the void for a longer period of time, while also giving her a longer cooldown. This version of her tactical makes it so that the ability is still centered around planned relocation, but still gives the player a quick reprieve when faced with an ambush or burst fire. This also somewhat raises the skill ceiling as players have to be aware of not only when they activate the ability, but also how long they hold the button down.
General: Universal In-Game Report System. No matter how good the game gets, toxic players will always attempt to ruin the fun for everyone else. Allowing players to report offenses like blatant toxicity and premature disconnection will help to keep them in check. Maybe this will have to wait until the servers are back to full strength, but it doesn't have to be too harsh. Everyone has emergencies, everyone makes mistakes. The emphasis should be on preventing players who purposefully burden the team from continuing to undermine the fun of others.
